blue_van - Fixing HVAC Controls That Won't Light Up

Since I bought the van the lights on the HVAC controls never came on. There are three HVAC controls; the normal one, the one by the driver in the ceiling for the rear of the van, and the one in the rear of the van. None of these lit up. That made me think it was not a burned out bulb. I was right. It turns out all of those devices are driven by the Body Control Module (BCM). After much troubleshooting I found that the BCM was not outputing voltage to those devices when it should. Turns out, it was a simple blown fuse. The annoying part is I had to look at wiring diagrams to figure out it was a fuse in the engine compartment called "BCM #7". Of course this fuse was in a sea of other fuses, including other great ones such as BCM #1-9.

Bad naming convention aside, once the blown fuse was replaced everything started lighting up correctly. Problem solved.
